By the time you’ve worked out how to say Sundara Karma, this Reading four piece will be soaring into the indie rock stratosphere. The band’s new track Flame is their first release since signing to Chess Club records, and is aptly named with its punchy sound making it definite hot property this summer.
The rich, glittering intro to Flame is the real highlight of the track – a gritty bassline and dreamlike hooks reverberate throughout its entirety, making it easy to imagine yourself drenched in the sun in a field somewhere, immersed in this track that oozes festival perfection. Similarly memorable is it’s fitting chorus of ‘Hold my flame and set alight, hold my fire screaming inside.’ Lead singer Oscar Lulu’s distinctive vocals resonate above the slick riffs, giving the track a fittingly ‘fired-up’ and almost anthemic quality.
All in all, it’s safe to say that Sundara Karma have pulled it out of the bag with Flame as, mark our words, you’ll have this infectious track on repeat for days. With multiple festival spots this summer and a headline tour beginning in October, we expect to be seeing more and more of this increasingly impressive band in the future.
