Track Review: San Diego / Hinds

Our favourite Spanish garage rockers Hinds have added another weapon to their inventory by the name of their latest track San Diego. Taken from the band’s forthcoming debut album Leave Me Alone, San Diego is the perfect remedy for the gloomy winter blues.

True to Hinds form, the track is instantly full of fun; laced with their signature jangly hooks and raucous vocals, it unsurprisingly takes infectious to a new level. The chorus in particular is a real beer spiller, with shout-along “da da da’s” and even a giggle or two reflecting their down to earth charm. In fact, San Diego is so full of fun and totally infectious that it completely masks the almost melancholy lyrics. Speaking about the track, the band wrote on their Soundcloud that “we all have bad days. we mean bad nights. one day a friend told us “I don’t wanna fall asleep because I know what’s the dream about”. this song is about staying awake. just staying awake.”

If one thing’s certain, it’s that San Diego has sent our anticipation for Leave Me Alone skyrocketing. Hinds’ long awaited debut is set to get the new year off to a sunny, kicking start. The album will be released on the 8th of January and you can preorder it here.
